Questions to ask before you buy

Personal care products arranged as a neutral shopping still life

Before the cart is submitted, check who wears the product, which format it is, what the waist line says, and how many pieces are in the pack. Price comes after those, because a low pack price on the wrong size is still the wrong order. This is for shoppers in the United States and for adult children buying for a parent.

Questions about the person and the format

What is printed on the package they use now? Brand, size word, and any inch range. Depend Fresh Protection for women, XL, 26 count, prints an extra-large waist of 45-54 inches. The recorded price was $23.48. Amazon showed that recorded price when the article was written. Prevail Daily Protective Underwear, unisex, Large, 64 count (four packs of 16), prints Large as 44 to 58 inches, and the page says the briefs are for day or overnight, with breathable zones and aloe. The recorded price was $53.67. Amazon showed that recorded price when the article was written. Asking “what size do they wear” and stopping at the word large will cross these two listings. Ask for the inches.

Check the Amazon listing before buying; its price, count, and size may have changed since this article was written.

Is the product a pad, a men’s guard, a pull-on, or a tab brief? Depend Guards for Men, Maximum Absorbency, 104 count, is a cup-shaped pad individually wrapped in a pocket-sized pouch for briefs or boxer briefs. The recorded price was $33.99. Amazon showed that recorded price when the article was written. A guard sits inside underwear the person already owns. A pull-on is the underwear. Ask which of those the person already puts on.

If you cannot measure, do you at least have the last package? If the answer is no, stop and read a size chart against a real waist, or wait until someone in the house can look at the pack. Ordering a medium because a clothing label says medium is a different system. LivDry EnduraDry Max, tab style, medium, 16-pack, calls the cloth latex-free and breathable. The recorded price was $42.99. Amazon showed that recorded price when the article was written. The word medium on that title still needs the chart for that brand, which you only have if the listing prints it.

Questions about the pack you will pay for

How many pieces are in the title, and is that one pack or a case of packs? Prevail’s 64 count is four packs of 16. Depend Fresh Protection XL is 26 in a single count on the title. Amazon Basics Postpartum Incontinence Underwear for Women, maximum, XL, 15 count, is a store-brand pull-on whose bullets also mention occasional urinary incontinence. The recorded price was $17.66. Amazon showed that recorded price when the article was written. Fifteen pieces at $17.66 is a different purchase from 26 pieces at $23.48. Divide the pack price by the count before you call one of them cheaper.

Is each piece wrapped? For a pad you will carry, that detail is on the listing or it is missing. Prevail Daily Pads, 13 inches, maximum, 39 count, says individually wrapped and latex-free. The recorded price was $19.36. Amazon showed that recorded price when the article was written. If the listing does not say wrapped, do not assume the pads will come in separate packets.

Who receives the second shipment, and who checks it? If an adult child reorders, the photo of the current pack should sit in the same thread as the payment. The question that should stop the purchase is a missing size range on a product that is sized. A pad or guard with no waist can still be bought when you already know that format. A pull-on with no inch range is a guess.
