Incontinence underwear: the hub for pull-on decisions

A man in his mid-sixties carries a small houseplant out to a parked car in a driveway.

Incontinence underwear, for most people typing it, means a disposable pull-on that replaces the pair you would otherwise wear. Washable cloth, overnight cuts, men’s and women’s labels, and store brands all sit near that search. This page sorts those routes. One pack does not cover the whole shelf.

A pull-on is stepped into and thrown away at the change. It is the product to shop when a pad in regular underwear is no longer enough, and when you can still get each foot through a leg opening. Tabs are a different close. Pads are a different shelf. The packs below are pull-ons with waist lines, counts, or both, taken from listings we checked.

Who the pack is labeled for, and day or night

Start with the words for women, for men, or unisex. Depend Fresh Protection Adult Diapers for Women, XL, 26 count, lists a waist of 45 to 54 inches. The title says diapers and for women, and you still step in. Measure where the band will sit, a little below the navel, after you breathe out. If you are between 45 and 54, this XL is at least in range. Outside that span, it is the wrong card even if the brand is one you wanted.

Night is a separate label. Depend Night Defense Adult Diapers for Women, Large, is a 14-count. The waist is 38 to 44 inches, and the bullets say up to 12 hours. That hour line is the seller’s ceiling, not a night we timed. Fourteen pulls, one each night, last about two weeks. The Large range sits lower than the XL Fresh Protection range, so do not order Night Defense Large because Fresh Protection XL fit you.

A unisex option in these notes is Prevail Daily Protective Underwear, for men and women, maximum absorbency, Large, 64 count in four packs of 16. The page puts Large at a waist of 44 to 58 inches and describes the briefs for day or overnight. Breathable zones and aloe are on the page too. A man or a woman inside 44 to 58 inches can read this as one pack that is not gendered. A Large from Depend will not share those inches.

Store brand, count, and cloth you can wash

Amazon Basics Postpartum Incontinence Underwear for Women is a maximum pull-on, XL, 15 count, lavender, and the title says packaging may vary. The bullets also list occasional urinary incontinence, so the page speaks to more than the postpartum phrase in the name. These notes do not include a waist in inches for this XL. Read that line on the live page. Do not copy 45 to 54 from Depend onto this bag.

The listing is Amazon Basics women’s pull-on, XL, 15 count. Prices the listings showed when this article was written were $23.48 for the Depend 26-count, $15.88 for the Night Defense 14-count, $53.67 for the Prevail 64-count, and $17.66 for the Amazon Basics 15-count. Check Amazon before you buy. The two women’s XL pull-ons are compared here: Amazon Basics and Depend XL pull-ups.

Count is the supply, once gender and day or night are settled. One Prevail brief a day is about two months in a 64-count. A morning and a night change cut that in half. The 26-count women’s pack at one a day lasts under a month. The 15-count store-brand pack at one a day is about two weeks. Reorder while a few are left.

Washable underwear is a different purchase from every pack on this page. These notes do not include a checked cloth brand, a size, or a price for a reusable pair, so this article will not invent one. If you want something to launder, read that listing’s waist and care line on its own page. If you want a disposable pull-on, stay with the four packs above, open one when it arrives, and match the size on the bag to the waist you measured. Change when it is wet. Let skin dry. A sore spot is for a clinician.
